Parking Lot Safety
*Have your keys ready when you approach your vehicle. They ensure quick entry into your vehicle and it can be an effective weapon in a crisis.

*Check before you get into your vehicle to make sure no one is hiding beneath or inside.

*Once you inside your automobile immediately lock the doors, even before you fasten your seat belt.

*Keep your vehicle in gear when stopped, with all the windows up and doors locked.

*When choosing a location to park, use a well lighted designated parking area.

*If you carry valuables in your vehicle, keep them out of sight and in your trunk

*Keep your vehicle in good operating condition at all times. Check your fluids regularly.

*Make sure your windows are clear of obstructions like frost, ice or snow before backing out of your parking space.

*A cellular telephone can be a great safety/security toll to have with you. If you are deliberately forced to stop your vehicle, keep the doors locked, turn the headlights on and sound the horn. Use your cell phone to call for help.

*Handicap spaces are reserved for vehicles with a proper handicap placard or license plate. Violators are subject to municipal citations.

*Watch for pedestrians when driving through parking lots and garages. Pedestrians have the right of way.

*Take care to park within marked lines of your chosen parking space.
